Yale S&DS Undergraduates Honored with Awards

S&DS Outstanding Thesis Award

The S&DS Outstanding Thesis Award is awarded annually to those S&DS majors who have accomplished an outstanding senior project in the field of statistics and data science.  This year we the awards goes to:

1) Madeline Bale, Thesis title: “Quantifying “Wickedness”: Analyzing Anti-Abortion Attitudes in New York Newspapers, 1838 – 1880. 

2) Ben Christensen, Thesis title: A Graph-Theoretic Approach to Human Population Clusters as a Function of Geography

3) Jackson Pullman, Thesis title: Detailed Social Network Interactions and Gut Microbiome Strain-Sharing Within Isolated Honduras Villages

S&DS Senior Award

The S&DS Senior Award is awarded annually to the S&DS senior who has shown exemplary scholarship and outstanding leadership in statistics and data science.   This year the award goes to Madeline Bale.

The Nellie Pratt Elliot Award

Awarded to a senior woman who, on the field of play and in her life at Yale, best represents the highest ideals of American sportsmanship and Yale tradition.  This year the award goes to Ami Gianchandani.

The Arthur Twining Hadley Prize
Awarded to the graduating senior majoring in the social sciences who ranks highest in scholarship. This year the award goes to Aaron Dickstein.
