S&DS has moved into the Kline Tower!

September 7, 2023

After many years located in The Dana House (24 Hillhouse), S&DS is now located in the Kline Tower.

Designed by renowned architect Philip Johnson in 1967, the Kline Tower completed its comprehensive renovation to be home for the Departments of Astronomy, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics & Data Science, and the Institute for Foundations of Data Science.

A unique redesign of the floors allows departments to live within a triplet - a set of three floors connected by interior stairways allowing for greater access and common gathering areas within the department.

Distributed throughout Kline Tower’s 14 floors are state-of-the art classrooms, lounges, and meeting spaces that are designed to enhance student instruction, formal seminars, workshops, as well as informal social gatherings of faculty and students.

As the tallest building on the Yale Campus, the Kline Tower’s new conference area provide spectacular panoramic views of Yale, greater New Haven, and the Long Island Sound.
