S&DS Majors Win Best Business Value at 2026 ASA DataFest!

Congratulations to S&DS majors Amanda Huang ‘27, Miya Zhao ‘27, Eleanor Ohm ‘27, and Annie Ye ‘28 for winning Best Business Value at the 2026 American Statistical Association DataFest! Hosted at Wesleyan University, April 17-19, the competition brought together students from several colleges and universities in Connecticut and Massachusetts, including Wesleyan, Trinity, Connecticut College, Yale, and the University of Connecticut. Teams of 3-5 students were challenged to wrangle and analyze a large, complex dataset, unknown to them before the competition, and pitch their insights to a panel of judges. Amanda, Miya, Eleanor, and Annie developed a suite of web applications using the R package Shiny that allowed users to explore the data in an interactive, highly visual, easily digestible format.  Congratulations again to the team on their achievement!
